卡那封是很無聊但很有用的地方,沒有什麼景點,唯一的景點就是澳洲第一台人造衛星天線,再來就是一哩長堤。但卡那封也是個農業與漁業大鎮,全年盛產香蕉、蕃茄以及瓜類,並且提供大量的海產,因此我們決定待在這裡尋求工作,雖然這裡已經擠滿等待中的背包客了,但再更北上只會更擠。

在我們決定待下來之後的某天,工作旅社老闆跟我們說有兩天的臨時工,在與農場主人見面之後才知道原來是個WWOOF的農場-我們每週工作數小時及打掃以換取免費住宿與晚餐。
於是我們搬進了wonderland,農場主人麥可說的,他說他是彼得潘。他人很好也很大方,尤其是晚餐的部份,我們吃得都很好,諸如酪梨培根義大利麵、烤牛肉與馬鈴薯南瓜泥、西班牙雞肉燉飯,現在我們都必須只吃微量的早餐與午餐以裝下更多的晚餐,而且也必須運動以防發胖。事實上,我們在澳洲都沒吃過這麼好,因為我們都自己煮,充其量只是「食物」,而邁可煮的可說是「料理」,而且有些食材是我未曾捨得購買的。 待在麥可的農場還有一個好處就是有免費水果,如橘子香蕉。住這裡真的不錯,環境很好,我甚至有自己獨住的房間!要說還不能適應的地方,那就是麥可喜歡開些黃腔,而那大多是我開始聽不懂並傻笑的時刻。話說回來,住在這裡是最融入澳洲生活文化的方法。【即使麥可講了五四三,至少都是英文版,還可以加減學英文(這一段英文板沒寫,不會翻譯)】

這就是麥可 我們私底下叫他"阿伯"(台)
找工作不容易,我們必須沿著農場路挨家挨戶詢問農場,即使他們都夠貼心的在門口裝上「NO WORK」的告示牌,我們還是希望能遇見農場主人,至少可以留下聯絡方式,哪天他們需要人手時就能聯絡。麥可也幫了我們很多忙,帶我們介紹給一些農場主人,可以多些機會接臨時工。
有天我們就去採了青椒,它們都很綠、很大也很美-但超級臭,因為我討厭青椒!所以我也發誓不可能去偷青椒的!另一天我們幫麥可採橘子,那就香多了。麥可有香蕉園,我們在他採完超重的香蕉串之後,將香蕉泡氯水以殺菌保鮮;周日時刻,我們為麥可包裝混合蔬果,每個箱子裡放滿卡那封特產農產品:南瓜、黃瓜、蕃薯、馬鈴薯、橘子、柑橘、青椒、茄子、四季豆、香蕉、檸檬、大小番茄,真是色彩繽紛又健康。

To improve myself in English, I decided to write blog in English.
Carnarvon is such a boring but useful place; there is nothing attraction, the only famous thing is the first OTC dish in Australia, or, the one mile jetty. Besides, it’s really a big agriculture town which produces during the whole year, such as banana、tomato、melons, and also provides large amount seafood. So we decided to stay here for looking for a job, although it’s already full of waiting backpackers.
After we deciding staying in Carnarvon, the owner of our working hostel told us a two-day-work, after seeing the owner of the farm, it’s a WWOOF place!---we work some hours and do cleaning to change free accommodation and dinner.
So we moved into the “wonderland”, the owner names Mike, also the “Peter Pam”. He is nice and kind, we enjoy every dinner he cooks, such as “avocado spaghetti”、“roast beef with mashed potato pumpkin”and“Spanish stewed rice”. Now we need to eat little breakfast and lunch for having more dinner, we also need to exercise to prevent getting fat. In fact, we never eat so well in Australia before because we usually cook by ourselves, that’s just “food”, and what Mike cooks is “cuisine”.
Besides, we have free fruits from his farm--- orange、 banana. We are so lucky to meet him, the environment here is also pretty nice, I even have my own room! Maybe the only point I have not get used to is he likes to make adult jokes, but that moment always be what I don’t understand and just do smile. Anyway, it’s really a nice opportunity to get into Australia culture.
It’s really not easy to get a job, and we need to drive though the plantation to ask farm, even there is a sign “NO WORK”, we still wish to meet farm owner just for leaving phone numbers, maybe they would need us someday. And Mike also does us favor, he introduce us to some owners, so we had some casual works.
The day we picked green peppers---they were green、big and beautiful---but smell bad because I hate green peppers!! I swear I won’t steal it at all!! The other day we picked huge oranges for Mike, it smelled great!
We also help Mike dealing with banana, after he picking(very heavy), we washed green bananas with chlorine water to kill bacteria, then they will turn yellow days later. In the Sunday morning, we packed mixed boxes which have pumpkin、zucchini、sweet potato、potato、orange、mandarin、green pepper、eggplant、beans、banana、lemon、tomato,all from Carnarvon!
